Report Wreck Material

Wreck material includes items recovered on the sea shore or in tidal water that have come from a ship, aircraft or hovercraft (vessels). This could be parts of the vessel, its cargo or equipment.

Use this service to:

  • Report wreck material that you have recovered

Before you start

  • You should have all information about the wreck material recovered to hand, including the location it was found in
  • If you know what shipwreck the material has come from you should have details of this to hand
  • You should have any photos of recovered material on the device you are completing this form on
  • If you have a large number of items to report from a single find, these can be uploaded to your report in bulk. You should complete the items in the required format before starting your report.
Warning Wreck material must be reported within 28 days of recovery. Please contact the Receiver of Wreck if it is not possible to report wreck material within this time frame.
If you recover any wreck material you must report it to the Receiver of Wreck or you could be fined £2,500.
